Shy and lonely Toffle is afraid of the dark and unable to find friends. He loves to take walks by the sea, and one day finds a message in a bottle on the shore. The message is from a lonely and frightened girl called Miffle, who is asking for help. Toffle puts the letter – the first he has ever received – in his pocket, and leaves on a journey to find Miffle. Toffle overcomes his fears and learns the joy of friendship with Miffle.
